Question time.

What is the big deal about Yahoo! buying tumblr? What do you think is going to happen?? The site will not be shut down nor will it change much. Yahoo could give less fucks about this website. They want the user base, they want us. Not the website itself. They needed the demographic and user base tumblr provides so no they aren’t gonna fuck tumblr up.

I don’t understand the incredible opposition to Yahoo buying tumblr.

You realize that tumblr makes NO money, right? It will be shut down if someone doesn’t buy it and monetize it.

Seriously, websites don’t just run for free and tumblr has no money.

There’s no reason to think that Yahoo will ruin the service. They’ve been on a climb since their new CEO took over.

Educate yourselves.  As of the time of this text post, tumblr has not been bought by Yahoo!.  Yahoo!’s board of directors approved the offer, meaning that they will make the offer, not that tumblr has accepted.  And according to a couple of articles, tumblr hasn’t even said if they are interested or not yet, though they are weighing the opinions of their users (as in, they don’t want to be bought out).

In summary:

Things this means:

  • Yahoo! will make a 1.1 billion dollar offer to buy tumblr.

Things this doesn’t mean:

  • tumblr has been bought by Yahoo!

This omg this. No one seems to understand this.

Going through the Yahoo tag..

Is seriously annoying me to no end. The people of tumblr don’t seem to understand anything. I get that they’re experts on media such as TV shows, but when it comes to real world things the’re so lacking. When it comes to business, religion, politics, and just anything the general population should know at least something about, tumblr always fails me. It’s filled with people who act like the know it all but when they open their mouth or type their opinion down on a matter it really makes me facepalm to no end. Watching these people now talk about business and acquisitions I just can’t even right now.
